Our Mission
We are making a promise to Louisiana. A promise to listen to the voices of Louisiana students and incorporate their ideas into the creation and development of our organization. We pledge to keep their best interest at heart and serve our beautiful home state of Louisiana. We promise that no student with the desire to achieve higher education will go unsupported and that all students no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, or background will be alone in this process. Regardless of age, education, or finances, we are committed to helping Louisiana residents achieve their education goals. We know better than anyone that promoting Louisiana’s education system furthers all Louisiana residents, and that showing supporting Louisiana students shows love to Louisiana.

Student support
We aim to support students by connecting them with the people, resources, and communities that they need. Whether that means one-on-one interactions with students, revising their essays, or connecting them with organizations that can support them, we are dedicated to being the resource that Louisiana needs.
accessibility
We want to make our website free, available, and accessible for all students. That means using accessible language, easy to use formatting, and a wide variety of resources for students of all backgrounds.
education
We promise to provide accurate, informative resources that will educate students about financial support options, the college application process, and other educational opportunities that are available to them.

Background On Louisiana School Systems
Louisiana students have consistently suffered at the hand of a lacking education system that is riddled with a lack of resources, student support, and effective education. Beyond this, residents have been deeply affected by the poverty, crime, and an unpredictable natural disaster that plague Louisiana. Louisiana is a unique and special state, with a culture and language all of its own. However, Louisiana’s students have largely been overlooked, and though efforts have been made to better Louisiana’s education system, these changes are generally minute and localized. The true injustice made towards these students is that those who desire to enter higher education have been denied the support they need and have been forced to resign their dreams. At Collegecounselor.co we believe that any student with the desire for education deserves to be encouraged and supported. Collegecounselor.co was created as a resource to assist Louisiana students with finances, college preparation, and support students during high school, college, and beyond. We believe that by investing in Louisiana’s youth, we can raise high school graduation rates, increase college attendance, address Louisiana’s outmigration issue, and help to make Louisiana a better, safer state overall.
MeEt US!
We are Louisiana college students who had the idea to create change in our community, and we hope that our work will benefit you!

Founder & CEOAbigail Huddleston is an undergraduate student at Tulane University studying Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience. She has always been passionate about education and has invested in her own education throughout the years. Though she grew up in Illinois, Abigail moved to Louisiana during her Sophomore year of high school and realized a big change in the school environment and quality of education. After changing schools several times, Abigail finally found the high school education she was looking for at The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, but worried for all of those who were limited in their education by factors out of their control. When she moved on to college in New Orleans, Louisiana, she realized that this education deficit was widespread, and she knew that she wanted to help. After volunteering and learning about the education system over the course of several years, she realized that many students had the desire to enter higher education but lacked the support they needed during this process. At Collegecounselor.co we believe that support should not be a barrier to any student’s education and have made it our mission to support all Louisiana residents in their pursuit of higher education. Collegecounselor.co was founded in July of 2023, and Abigail has worked tirelessly to advance the organization and mold it into the amazing student resource that it has become.
